burgfriedenspolitik ("Castle Peace Policy", from the political stance of the SPD during the great war) fascism and reaction are coming to the west once again, this cannot be doubted or denied just look at the UK (actively collapsing to the far-right) and the US (well on its way) to hopefully educate anyone reading this who isnt a Far Left Weirdo such as myself, lets look back at history to see the numerous times the liberal center, social democrats, and bourgeois establishment have ""resisted"" reaction! In 1914, socialist parties in both Germany and France rejected proletarian internationalism and supported the inter-imperialist Great War. For this, at least 15 million would die on both sides of World War 1, and the conditions created by the war led to the first rise of fascism and a second World War. In 1919, having not learned from the war that had *just* concluded, Friedrich Ebert's SPD wisely made a truce with the Freikorps and army to crush the Spartacist uprising. The KPD would go on to reject cooperation with the SPD during the Weimar Republic's existence. In 1933, the liberal, center-right, and centrist parties of the Weimar Republic, those being the Centre Party, the Bavarian People's Party, the German State Party, and the German People's Party, voted in line with the Nazis and DNVP on the Enabling Act, instituting 12 years of Nazi rule and sentencing over 10 million to die by the regime's hand. Only the SPD, whose policies under Ebert directly led to the Nazis rising to power, and the KPD, who were not allowed to take their seats in the parliament, opposed the Enabling Act. During the Spanish Civil War, the future Allies of World War 2 refused to give military support to the Spanish Republicans, allowing the Nazis to back the Nationalists and letting Franco institute a dictatorship that would not be toppled until the 1970s. The Allies also refused to interfere with Francoist Spain even after the surrenders of both Germany and Japan. It's possible your mom was born while Spain was still under fascism. these are just a few prominent examples of the liberals and social democrats of history heroically refusing to stand against fascism and sentencing millions to die there will surely be more examples never delude yourself into thinking establishment parties and their allies will help, when in all likelihood they will capitulate at the earliest convenience
